Apple experts provides carbon fiber for composites

By Thomas Ricker posted 11th Apr 2011 9: 25 AM if you're going in the consumer electronics business you compete then a solid understanding of the industrial design and materials science would be better. Otherwise you are just an another manufacturer trying to benefit from drab plates commodity plastic eke. With the exception of the MacBook, Apple's entire Mac lineup is currently cut from aluminium. However, Apple has been caught materials recently even experiment with their newly acquired Liquidmetal as rumors about new ultra light and durable carbon-fiber components and housing swirl. Speculation about the latter has been fueled by an Apple patent application for a process that woven would use carbon-fiber materials in the enhanced device housing the mobile phones, laptops, desktops, and tablets. Interestingly the patent app has been submitted by Kevin M. Kenney (developer of the first all carbon fiber bicycle frame) for Apple again in 2009, a man of his job title "senior composites engineer at Apple Inc." changed at some point after 1 March (according to Google cache) on LinkedIn. Of course, a carbon-fiber laptop is far from einzigartigen--only the Sony G11 from 2007 or 2008 of the Voodoo envy 133 reference, when you see how it goes. A year later fit but if Apple makes a wholesale shift to carbon fiber in the coming months expect the Horde by me too OEMs to follow. See profile for Kenney that before and after LinkedIn after the break.
