Chinese robot of Triceratops skeleton packs Linux, no horns

By Brian heater posted Apr 20 2011 12:42 PM frog (four-legged robot for optimum gait) has to go a ways before it can be a real dinosaur. The camouflaged robot is a prototype of a skeleton of Triceratops designed by Dr. Wei Wang and a number of PhD students at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of automatic and is almost shy in comparison to, say, BigDog Boston Dynamics' Horn-wielding robots. It has common angle sensors, accelerometers, a pan tilt camera, and a number of other sensing devices. The robot is within a Linux system and communicates wirelessly with a host computer-even though it's still a plug for is required. Dr. Wang is hoping that the ' bot shows up in museums or other dinosaur exhibits when it is a bit more complete. He key card comparisons with our beloved BigDog, however, since it DC motors and is not hydraulic, so don't expect reptiles not this herbivorous, carry your baggage in excess of rocky terrain anytime soon.
